Creating The Da Vinci Code Theme with P900Themer

This tutorial shows how simple it is to create a great looking theme using P900Themer.  I first downloaded a suitable image from The Da Vinci Code movie web site.

Step 1) Start P900Themer and create a New theme

Step 2) Set the Theme information

I gave the theme a name and added the Author and copyright details.

Step 3) Set the color scheme for the theme using the color wheels selectors to create a nice yellow / browns color scheme.

Step 4) Set the Open Background to the Da Vinci Code image I downloaded.  Notice how P900Themer autofits the image and does all the re-sizing for you.

Step 5)  It would be nice if the image covered the Application Bar, Menu Bar and Status Bar.  Normally, I would have to open up an image editor and re-size the image to the correct size then split the image into the 4 parts for the App Bar, Menu Bar, background and Status bar.

In P900Themer, simply click the check boxes, Extend in to Applciation Bar and Extend into Status Bar.

Step 6) I don't think the standard App Bar tabs work with this theme, so lets go and pick a different one (disk style tab) from the resources.  Notice the tab only needs to be specified once for tab1 if you want all the tabs to be the same.

Step 7) Set the Closed background image to the same Da Vinci Code image.

Image

Step 8) The Closed Image shows that the bottom of the Open image is displayed as the Status Bar at the top of the closed image.  I don't like the dark bar this creates so I simply click to extend the Closed Image into the status bar as well and P900Themer automatically blends the images.

Step 9) I don't like the way the closed image has auto-sized as the aspect ratio of the image makes it looked stretched.  So instead, I change the backgrounds image to Tile mode, change the offsets slightly, and the closed iamge looks great now.  Note this is the same image that has been used for the open background, it is just manipulated by P900Themer using the tilemode, zoom and offset options.

Step 10) Compose the theme by just clicking the compose button.

Step 11) Open the inbuilt Phone Theme Manager and upload the theme.  The phone theme manager allows you to upload, dowload and delete themes from your phone.
